Ride of Silence – 22 May 2010

About the event

Join cyclists worldwide on 22 May 2010 for Ride of Silence, an international event which started in 2003 in Dallas, Texas after endurance cyclist Larry Schwartz was killed by a passing bus on an empty road.

Since that time, the ride has developed into a global event and is now held in 18 countries around the world.

The Ride of Silence is a remembrance event to acknowledge those cyclists killed or injured on our roads. By raising awareness among motorists and the general public of the importance of sharing the road, it is hoped that future casualties will be reduced. Like the Share the Road event in November, it is hoped that such campaigns will help establish a presence for cyclists on our busy roads.
