Smarter ways to buy your train ticket

We're always keen to get your feedback - and we've been listening to your suggestions on how to improve ticketing for our expanding train service.

We're acting on these suggestions. Here's what we are doing right now to make it easier for you to buy tickets:

Britomart Ticket Office - open longer hours

The ticket office located in the old CPO at Britomart is now open longer hours. With EFTPOS and credit card facilities, now it is much more convenient to purchase your train and bus tickets before you travel.

OPEN:
6.00am to 9.30pm Monday to Friday
7.00am to 9.30pm Saturday
8.00am to 7.30pm Sunday and public holidays

Purchase your ticket while you wait for the train

When you see one of our mobile ticketing teams checking tickets on your platform, if you haven't already got a ticket, you will be asked to buy a ticket before you get on board (cash only).

More places to buy

To make buying a ticket easier, we're expanding our network of local ticket agents, where you can pay by EFTPOS (some agents also accept credit cards).

Monthly passes and 10-trip tickets - save money

If you're a regular traveller you can save money by purchasing a monthly pass or 10-trip ticket........and it's so much better than having to carry cash every day.

Pay by EFTPOS or credit card when you purchase from the Britomart or Papakura ticket offices or your local ticket agent (includes Flexi-monthly passes - buy any day of the month to get a month's travel ie purchase on the 20th, valid until the 19th of the next month).

Just so you know we will also be doing more checks to make sure people have bought their ticket. It's fair to pay your fare and all it requires is that you buy your ticket and hang onto it - we may ask on the train or at the platform. At Britomart we will soon be making regular checks of all tickets - both before you board and when you get off.

We appreciated your suggestions and we welcome any further feedback on the steps we are taking.
